Washington State Highway 2

Yesterday Mary and I went sightseeing 50 miles east of Monroe to Stevens Pass. It has been many years since I’ve been here.

Passing through towns with names like, Sultan, Gold Bar, Index, Startup and Skyhomish we enjoyed the pretty scenery in a beautiful cloudless day, temperature of 75 degrees and a delightful breeze.

Here’s a few of the things we saw…

The town of Index wiith 3,000+’ Mt. Index in the background.
This is Bigfoot Country!
Do you recognize Harry Henderson?
The movie Harry and the Hendersons was shot here. It’s one of my favorite comedy movies.
A short walk through a pleasant glade brought us to Deception Falls.
Mary is loving Washington and the great weather.
The Iron Goat Trail Interpretive Site told the history of the Great Northern Railway and the longest train tunnel in the world.

As a side note the new Bronco II handled the 100 mile drive including the climb to 4,000+’ Stevens Pass with no problems. The temperature guage did not go above mid-normal which made me very happy. All in all, a delightful day.
