Tsunami Warnings And Astoria, Oregon – Part 2

Mary and I went to Astoria, Oregon once again yesterday. Among the things we saw/did were.

* Visit the site of Fort Astoria where the first permanent settlement west of the Mississippi River was established in 1811.

Fort Astoria…all that remains is this plaque and a small park.

* We also toured the Victorian Style home of George Flavel, one of Astoria’s most prominent citizens in 1884 when he passed away.

* Last we visited the Heritage Museum which nicely presented the city’s rich and colorful history.

To learn more about the Flavel Home and Heritage Musem, go to the Clatsop County Historical Society’s website at: http://cchs@cumtux.org

Finally…here’s a different sign than I usually see!

Unless you live on the low-lying coast of Oregon, you probably don’t have this sign in your town/city.
