The long-time-thought-about project is finally finished…

On March 1st, I posted a Blog entry indicating I had just bought a new photo/slide scanner and was beginning a long-time-thought-about project…that is the transfer of photos and slides to a digital format.

The project began with slides from1974. By April 7th, I had completed the transfer of 3,095 slides. Then I started on the print photographs which ended up with a total of 1,249. I completed the project yesterday with a grand total of 4,344 conversions covering the years of 1974 to 2003. I posted 1992 yesterday and I’ll post another year every two to three days until they have all been posted.

Here’s the final photo converted…My friend Carolyn raises a glass to salute my accomplishment. Not really…she was really raising a glass of welcome to happy hour at her RV.

In the digital format they will be much more convenient to view. Prior to conversion they sat in a big box under my dinette seat for the last 9.5 years. While it was quite a chore at times to do this project…the trip down memory lane was great!

So, what will you do with all your time, now that your project is complete? You ask… Never fear, I’ve things to occupy my time while Mary continues shoulder surgery recovery and gets her affairs in order. First chore is to take over Mary’s long-time-desired project of converting long ago home-made family VHS tapes to a DVD format. The technology involved has stymied her and hopefully I can figure out how to do it, Then, a few minor items need my attention on the motorhome and my towed Ford Bronco II, in preparation for our mid-May departure to summer in OR and WA.

My feet are really getting itchy! That’s how an RVer describes the fact that he’s ready to move on down the road and there’s only one cure! Just do it!
