San Cristobal De Las Casas, Mexico

Picture
One of the many pretty churches of San Cristobal De Las Casas.

From my book…”09/02- (Day 245) At San Cristobal De Las Casas. 6 AM temperature was 62 degrees. At 9:30 AM, Bud and I went off to explore the city, while Bob did his own thing. We walked for five hours, which also included a delicious Mexican meal. I usually do not care for cities that much, but I must admit that San Cristobal De Las Casas, is the most beautiful and cleanest city we have been in on the entire trip. There are none of those black smoke-belching diesel buses here, and the air is refreshingly clean and cool. A siesta and then happy hour adjacent to our rigs. The afternoon high temperature was 82 degrees in the shade.

09/03- (Day 246) At San Cristobal De Las Casas. 6 AM temperature was 62 degrees. Bud and I walked around the city for six hours, while Bob once again did his own thing. We visited more churches, the Indigenous Indian Museum and Artisan Centers, did some shopping, and enjoyed another delicious noon meal. There are more than a dozen churches and they are all absolutely unique and beautiful. Happy hour in Bud’s rig. The afternoon high temperature was 78 degrees on a cloudy day.”

Note…Numerous times during our trip, my traveling companion Bud has said “How many churches do they need? It seems there are far to many in comparison to the population!” If you study Mexico history, you will find that the church was the most powerful entity for a very long time. No lie, we visited hundreds of churches during our trip!
