Cahuita, Costa Rica

The main street in Cahuita, Costa Rica.

From my book…’05/27- (Day 147) At Puerto Limon. 6 AM temperature was 80 degrees. On the road at 9 AM. Bruce got a flat tire, so we had to stop and get that fixed. We traveled southeast along the coast, most of the time about 300 feet from the Caribbean Sea, to the village of Cahuita. It is not much more than a few dirt streets, with a very real Caribbean flavor. It is easy to see that drugs are apparently cheap and readily available here, because many of the people we came across quite obviously appeared to be “stoned!” It was kind of sad to see so many people “wasting away in Margaritaville!” We had a nice meal, and then, because we could not find a safe place, parked our rigs in the parking lot of The Honeymooners Cabins. We had an enjoyable happy three hours in a local bar. We plan to spend four nights here.’
