was to install a CB Radio which was completed today.

I seldom initiate a conversation on the CB Radio. Since I cannot see my towed vehicle behind the RV as I drive down the highway, the primary purpose in having a CB Radio is that hopefully if I’m having a problem such a getting a flat tire on my towed vehicle, that a good Samaritan truck driver or another RVer will call me and advise me of the adverse situation so that I can do something about it before some real damage occurs.

In the below photo you can see the CB Radio mounted on the dash and near the top of the side window you can see a black square box which is the glass-mounted CB antenna. It allows a signal from the antenna to pass through the glass and thus avoid the need of drilling a hole in the side of the motorhome to use a wire to connect the antenna to the radio.

We spent $500 at Camping World on a number of items a couple of days ago. I’ll be the next month installing all the various new do-dads.

On 9/9/99 I spent my first night in my then new (and now old) motorhome in a Thousand Trails RV Resort Park in Concrete, WA.

Yesterday Mary and I took the new motorhome back to the dealer for our walk-through…a process in which one becomes familiar with all of the operating functions of their new motorhome. After a couple of minor repairs we arrived at Camping World about 5:00 PM.

Last night was 09/09/09 and Mary and I spent our first night in our new motorhome in a Camping World parking lot in Rocklin, CA. We got there in time to do about one hour of shopping before they closed at 6:00PM.

As you might have guessed this was not by accident. The timing just happened to work out conveniently that way. It was an unforgettable night…very warm and only about 300 feet from Interstate Highway 80 where we heard road traffic all night long! Not very romantic, but functional and convenient.

Our $500 dollar camping spot (that’s how much we spent there) at Camping World.

We completed our Camping World shopping at 9:30 Am this morning. Then more shopping at Target, Smart & Final and Costco. We arrived back at Mary’s home in Murphys, CA at 3:30 PM. The new motorhome handled the 2,000 elevation climb in 95 degree temperatures with no problems.

for it’s new owner! Another full day emptying the remaining items from the old motorhome to the new motorhome. Finally it is empty! Then a little cleaning up and it’s looking really good. Better than I’ve seen it in my ten years of ownership.

In other news, Mary and I are taking the new motorhome back to the RV dealer in Scaramento today. We will do a walk-through with service personnel to become fully acquainted with all the operational aspects. Then to the Chevrolet Dealer for accomplish a minor recall item. Then to Target to buy some needed supplies for the new motorhome. Then to Camping World where we have a number of items to buy. We will spend the night in the Camping World Parking lot and continue our shopping the next day. Then a Costco shopping stop and back to Mary’s home in Murphys, CA hopefully by no later then 5:00 PM.

Current forecast temperatures for today is 93 and 98 on Thursday. It will be a good test for the motorhome to see how it performs in hot weather. Hopefully it will be with no problems!

in preparing to sell the motorhome. I’ve lost track of how many trips I’ve made from the old motorhome to the new motorhome. Today should be the last day and the transporting of items will be complete. In the below photo which is under the front dinette seat is what I’m calling our seldom used stuff storage area which nearly full. It’s amazing how many items are carried in a motorhome. Several hundred for sure.

Once the old motorhome is empty of items, all that remains is a good cleaning. One certainly collects a lot of dirt and dust in 10 years and 75,000 miles through 10 countries!

In other news…Transition Day #7…preparing the motorhome for sale. I got all on my personal stuff, clothes, etc., moved into the new motorhome. In addition removed my XM Radio and our two WiFi antennas. The end is in sight…perhaps a couple of more days should do it. I had figured 10 days would be needed.

A full day starting at 7:30 AM and knocking off at 2:30 PM when the temperature hit 84. It’s slow going now because I have to find the proper place for everything based upon how frequently it gets used and then make it fit into the proper storage compartment with everything else. The outsdide storage compartments are now completely loaded…time to start on the inside. Forecast temperature for today is 86.

I buy my year’s supply of Canadian Mist in Yuma, AZ where I get it for half of the price in Washington.

Transition Day #4… preparing the motorhome for sale.

Some of the things accomplished today were taking down my personal mementos from some of the places I’ve visited with this motorhome in the last ten years covering 75,000 miles. In that time , in addition to most of the states in the lower United States, I also made it to Canada, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.

Just a few of my mementos.

Also cleaned the refrigerator and shower in addition to moving some items into the new motorhome. Once again the afternoon forecast was 99 degrees. I quit at 12:30 PM when the temperature hit 94. Forecast for today is 93 degrees.

Looks lke new!
